Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. The most well-known of her works is the main character in Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was christened as a female singer and actress by Prince. The 1980s were a time of change for her she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica in California in 1959. Her professional career began as a model in the latter part of 1970. Also, she appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the leading lady in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she also changed her name.) Then she was replaced by Vanity of the female group Vanity 6 which starred in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. Her performance had more impression on the charts when she was Prince's mate in Take Me with You, which was a duet in the soundtrack. Kotero broke off from Prince after a disagreement during the course of her career. Apollonia 6 broke up following their disagreement. Kotero went on to be featured in various minor roles throughout this time (reportedly declining to appear in her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed a role on the night-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988. However, her comparatively tame collection of songs that incorporated dance/R&B did not impress people who buy music and soon the album vanished from sight. In the years following, Apollonia continued to perform as an actress (if a little under the radar) and also in a few film roles, television appearances as well as an exercise video. Apollonia published a Spanish/English CD called Stay with Me in 1997. Then, she went back to school and earned the degree of filmmaker. In addition, she founded her own production company.
